Options for Keeping Connected to Family During COVID-19 Isolation

As the Government has advised everyone to stay at home and avoid all but essential travel, a lot of people are going to be in isolation on their own. Some may not have any contact with another person and therefore may struggle to get through.

There are numerous ways of staying in contact, the obvious one would be to call however there are lot of apps people are using to make this contact fun.

Here are a few I currently use -

WhatsApp

www.whatsapp.com

This is a simple and reliable messaging app that lets you connect to Friends and family. This uses your phones internet or home internet to connect. This app lets you voice call, video call and group chat as well. The recipient of the call/message will need WhatsApp for this to work.

Houseparty

houseparty.com

This is a face to face social network. Once you create an account and add friends/family, it will then notify you when people are online. You can then have a video chat with as many friends as you like. Whilst you are in the video group call you can play little games. This app also lets you send Facemail; you can record little greetings and send them to your friends and families.

Skype

www.skype.com

Skype is a free chat/call program which is free and also uses your phone internet or home internet depending on where its installed. Skype will also allow you to call Mobiles and Landlines but this would need a subscription. Both parties would need Skype for this to work unless you were calling a mobile/Landline.
