Cyber Essentials Certification

Cyber attacks can come in a variety of forms, but the majority are simple in nature, opportunistic if you like. The Cyber Essentials scheme ensures that you are aware of your own IT infrastructure and where any risks are located. Knowing the risks and any shortcomings of your systems then allows you to take appropriate mitigation if and where necessary.

What is the Cyber Essentials Scheme?

The Cyber Essentials certification is a Government scheme that encourages and teaches businesses of any size the basics of cyber security. It can help you guard against the most common threats and demonstrates your commitment to cyber security to your suppliers and clients.

The Cyber Essentials Certification means that your defences will protect you from the vast majority of the most common attacks.

Why does my company need the Cyber Essentials certification?

Being unprepared and exposed to the potential of a Cyber attack can lead to loss of data, loss of customers or even loss of your business. It could even lead you to fines if for example personal information is lost and it becomes a reportable event.

Closing the gates after the horse has bolted can be very time consuming and expensive. Rapport with your customers that has built up over many years could be destroyed overnight.

How can we help you with Cyber Essentials certification?

Let us be perfectly clear from the outset. You do not need Optima to gain certification, but the paperwork process is lengthy and requires a certain amount of IT knowledge and experience to navigate through. Should you wish to do it yourself you can but getting the paperwork wrong will require a resubmission of the forms and additional payments until you get it all right.

Optima has been in business for over 30 years helping our customers through the maze of IT security threats that have come and gone.

Today we have a trained team of IT professionals who can evaluate your IT systems, implement necessary changes, and document your systems so that you get your certification first time and without having to spend hours of your own time attempting it.

Simply put, we save you time and therefore money.

How much does it cost?

We've assisted many clients with becoming Cyber Essentials certified.

We recommend using an online portal which allows all the details to be entered and who then carries out a check before submission. If they feel the submission would fail, they recommend the further details to be added. This service guarantees a successful submission as it checks all the details beforehand. This service costs £500.00 (ex VAT).
The £500 (ex VAT) includes the mandatory certificate of £300 and the portals checking fee of £200.

Without this service every failed submission costs an additional £300 (ex VAT).

Completing the on-line form includes a degree of technical information about your IT setup. We can either talk you through the basic details of what you will need to know and then point you to the on-line company for you to carry out the work yourself, or we can complete the entire process for you.
