How to Help the Fight Against COVID-19 from Home

Think you need to be a virologist to help in the fight again COVID-19? Think again! All you need is a laptop or PC.

Folding@home is a project focused on disease research. The problems they are solving require many computer calculations and they don’t have the computing capacity to be able to run them. The Folding@home software allows you to be a disease fighter and share your unused computer power to help find potential cures.

For two decades Folding@home has tackled diseases including Alzheimers and Ebola. The pandemic has bumped COVID-19 to the top of its list.

What is Folding?

Folding refers to the way human protein folds in the cells that make up your body.

What will your laptop/PC actually do?

Each volunteer will create a short movie about the jiggling atoms that form parts of COVID-19. Having thousands of minimovies helps Folding@home researchers then understand a virus’ overall behaviour.

How do I learn more/signup?
